McConnell’s Win a Trip to The J&J McConnell’s Distillery and Visitor Centre promotion – Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions (the “Terms”) apply to the McConnell’s Win a Trip to The McConnell’s Distillery and Visitor Centre promotion (the “Promotion”) and will prevail in the event of any conflict or inconsistency with any other communications, including in-store or online advertising or promotional materials including bottle neck collars. Entry instructions are deemed to form part of the Terms and by participating all entrants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by these Terms. Please retain a copy of these Terms for your information.

1. Promoter: Belfast Distillery Company, McConnell’s Distillery, 53-55 Crumlin Road, Belfast, BT14 6ST

2. Please do not send entries to this address.

3. Eligibility: Promotion open to residents of South Africa aged 18 years and over, except employees and families of the Promoter and its affiliate companies, agencies and anyone professionally connected with the Promotion.

4. Promotional Period: The Promotional Period shall end at 23:59 on 30 September 2024.

5. Entry Instructions

5.1 Entrants should purchase any promotional bottle of McConnell’s Irish Whisky 5 Year Old, or McConnell’s Irish Whisky Sherry Cask Finish, during the Promotional Period.
Head to https://intl.mcconnellsirishwhisky.com/backinbelfastsouthafricacompetition and enter the unique code found on the inside of the bottle neck collar, upload the till slip, and enter name and email address. Please retain your original itemised till receipt and original neck collar showing the winning unique code as you may need to provide them to claim your prize.

5.2 All promotional codes are unique, and each code can only be entered once. Any further attempts to enter the code will result in disqualification.

5.3 Entrants can purchase multiple promotional products throughout the Promotional Period and can enter a total of three times across the Promotional Period. Any entries above this amount will be automatically disqualified.

5.4 Participants are liable for their own data and voice charges in respect of the competition participations as well as any verification process, if applicable.

6. Prizes

6.1 There is 1 main prize of McConnell’s Win a Trip to The McConnell’s Distillery and Visitor Experience promotion. Main prize includes:

• Roundtrip Economy Class flight routing from major international airport in South Africa to Belfast International Airport, including all taxes, fees and one item of checked luggage per person (maximum 2 persons)
• Roundtrip private airport transfers in Belfast
• 2 nights’ hotel accommodation in Belfast, with a four-star rating, based on sharing a double or twin room, including daily breakfast
  Private tour and whisky tasting experience at The McConnell’s Distillery and Visitor Centre, including roundtrip private transfers from Belfast City (maximum 2 persons). Evening tour around Belfast, led by a local guide, including multiple tastings and Whisky samples (maximum 2 persons)
• Three-course dinner and drinks at a restaurant in Belfast on one evening, up to a maximum value of £90 per person (maximum 2 persons), including service charge
  (together the “Prizes”)

6.2 The winner must on request provide copies of passports and visa in order for the promoter to arrange the relevant flights and accommodation. If the winner is sent home for bad behaviour as determined in the promoter’s discretion, then the promoter is entitled to recover the costs of travel from the winner. Any participant who does not hold a valid passport is not eligible to win this competition.

6.3 Any entries received after the end of the Promotional Period will not be eligible to win the Promotion.

6.4 Prizes are non-transferable and no cash alternative will be offered for any of the Prizes. In the event of unforeseen circumstances (including but not limited to where continuing restrictions resulting from COVID-19 impact the Promoter’s ability to offer the Promotion), the Promoter reserves the right in its absolute discretion to substitute any of the Prizes for an alternative prize of equal value.

6.5 The Prizes do not include any additional costs and expenses as expressly detailed in the Prizes.

6.6 The winner will be required to sign (and will ensure that his/her guest also sign) a waiver and indemnity form relating to the prize, which will be provided by the promoter, and a signed copy of which must be returned to the promoter prior to the attendance of the event.

6.7 For the avoidance of doubt, all Attendees shall be deemed to be Participants (or winners as applicable) under these Competition Rules and accordingly, all provisions of these Competition Rules which apply to the Participants shall also apply to each Attendee (save for entry). Each Attendee will be required to sign and submit an indemnity form to the Promoter, which will be provided by the Promoter. Winners will ensure that their guests comply with these Competition Rules.

7. Winner Selection

7.1 The winner of the Promotion will be selected at random by an automatic computer process from all valid entries on 15st October 2024. The winner will then be contacted by email by 31st October 2024. and further details about how to book the Prizes will be provided. Where a winner fails to respond to this email within 10 working days of the date of the initial email from the Promoter, a new winner be chosen at random via the same process.

7.2 The surname of the winner will be published at www.mcconnellsirishwhisky.com for 3 months after the 31st October 2024. If you do not want your surname and country included on the winner list referred to above, please email info@belfastdistillery.com prior to the closing date of the promotion.

8. Additional Prize Conditions for The McConnell’s Win a Trip to The McConnell’s Distillery and Visitor Centre

8.1 The winner must be one of the travelling parties (maximum of two persons per each of the Prizes)

8.2 The McConnell’s Win a Trip to The McConnell’s Distillery and Visitor Centre must be booked and travelled within 6 Months of the winner receiving their notification email and once booked any amendments will be at the expense of the winner.

8.3 The winner and companion(s) are responsible for obtaining a current and valid passport, Visa and any other relevant travel documentation required for travel to Northern Ireland at their own expense. The winner must also make sure that the travelling party has any required vaccinations, health certificates, visas and other documentation necessary to complete the itinerary at the time of travel.

8.4 The winner will need a current and valid credit/debit card with sufficient available funds in order to check in at the hotel for security deposit purposes.

8.5 Travel insurance must be taken out prior to travel by the winner, with such evidence as required by the Promoter to be provided.

8.6 The winner of the McConnell’s Win a Trip to The McConnell’s Distillery and Visitor Centre and their companion must be aged 18 or over.

8.7 Unfortunately, the McConnell’s Win a Trip to The McConnell’s Distillery and Visitor Centre will be forfeited if:

• The winner is unable to take the prize within the dates specified by the Promoter;
• The winner has not obtained the proper travel documents by the date specified by the Promoter;
• The winner has any immigration complications which prevent them from entering, leaving or travelling within the dates specified by the Promoter; or
• The winner has any medical, legal or any other reason that would prevent them from accepting and participating in the McConnell’s Win a Trip to The McConnell’s Distillery and Visitor Centre.

8.8 In the event that the Prizes are forfeited by any winner, a new winner will be chosen at random.

9. Personal Data

9.1 Personal data which is provided by entrants on entering the Promotion will be processed and stored in a database by Belfast Distillery Company Ltd, McConnell’s Distillery, 53-55 Crumlin Road, Belfast, BT14 6ST. By providing personal information, entrants consent to the processing and storage of personal information Belfast Distillery Company Ltd, McConnell’s Distillery, 53-55 Crumlin Road, Belfast, BT14 6ST.

9.2 Once all Prizes have been administered, all personal data will be deleted unless specific consent has been given for Belfast Distillery Company Ltd, BT12 7DG McConnell’s Distillery, 53-55 Crumlin Road, Belfast, BT14 6ST to send further communications. Where this consent has been given, Belfast Distillery Company Ltd, McConnell’s Distillery, 53-55 Crumlin Road, Belfast, BT14 6ST retain personal data. Consents can be withdrawn or amended at any time by emailing info@belfastdistillery.com If an entrant withdraws consent to the storage and processing of their data for the purposes of administering the Promotion, they will also be withdrawn from the Promotion itself. 9.3 Belfast Distillery Company Ltd, McConnell’s Distillery, 53-55 Crumlin Road, Belfast, BT14 6ST will book the McConnell’s Win a Trip to The McConnell’s Distillery and Visitor Centre on behalf of the winner. By entering the Promotion, the winner and their companion agree to the processing of their personal data by Belfast Distillery Company Ltd for this purpose. All data will be handled in accordance with Belfast Distillery Company Ltd privacy policy.

9.4 In the event that a reasonable request is made, including by the Advertising Standards Authority or any other competent body, the Promoter will provide the surname and country of residence of the winner of the McConnell’s Win a Trip to The McConnell’s Distillery and Visitor Centre.

10. General

10.1 The promoter accepts no responsibility for entries or prize claims that are lost, delayed or damaged for any reason whatsoever.

10.2 Incomplete entries or those not in accordance with the entry instructions will not be accepted.

10.3 Winners agree to take part in marketing activity in respect of the Promotion. By entering the Promotion, entrants agree to the unrestricted use of post-Promotion publicity for the Promoter’s own purposes in all activities including, without limitation, marketing and promotional activities worldwide including use on the Promoter’s websites and social networking platforms.

10.4 Entrants agree that, to the extent permissible by law, the Promoter and its affiliates, agents assume no liability for injuries, losses or damages or any kind to property or persons, including without limitation death, resulting in whole or part, directly or indirectly, from the management of or mechanics behind the Promotion, entry into the Promotion, the acceptance of the Prizes, and any acts or omissions of the winner and travel companions. Nothing will exclude the Promotor’s liability for death or personal injury as a result of its negligence.

10.5 In the event of circumstances outside the reasonable control of the promoter, or otherwise where fraud, abuse, and/or an error (human or computer) affects or could affect the proper operation of this Promotion or the awarding of prizes, and only where circumstances make this unavoidable, the Promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the Promotion or these terms and conditions, at any stage, but will always endeavour to minimize the effect to participants in order to avoid undue disappointment.

10.6 The Promoter reserves the right to exclude any entries that it reasonably believes to be fraudulent or based on misconduct.

10.7 The Promoter reserves the right to verify all entries including but not limited to asking for proof of purchase, address, age and identity details (which they must provide within 14 days of request) and to refuse to award a prize or withdraw prize entitlement and/or refuse further participation in the Promotion and disqualify the participant where there are reasonable grounds to believe there has been a breach of these Terms or any instructions forming part of these Terms or otherwise where a participant has gained unfair advantage in participating in the Promotion or won using fraudulent means. The Promoter will be the final arbiter in any decisions, and these will be binding and no correspondence will be entered into in relation this clause.

10.8 These Terms (whether such disputes or issues are contractual or non-contractual in nature, such as claims in tort, for breach of statute or regulation or otherwise) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with Northern Irish law. Entrants hereby irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Northern Irish courts to settle any such dispute or issues.

10.9 Should the process for entry into the Competition or the Prize/s involve any alcoholic beverage, Participants shall ensure that it is enjoyed responsibly.

10.10 Each Participant, by participating in the Competition, acknowledges, agrees and expressly consents to: the Promoter processing the Participant’s personal information, including in the form of names, telephone numbers, identity numbers and/or email addresses, during and after the course and scope of the Competition; and the Promoter transferring the winning Participant’s personal information, including names, telephone numbers, identity numbers and/or email addresses, to the relevant parties in order to make any required travel, delivery or other arrangements, as may be applicable, during the course and scope of the Competition for utilisation of a Prize, which processing and transfer shall take place in accordance with the provisions of the Protection of Personal Information Act 14 of 2013 (“POPIA”) and any other applicable law, and for the purpose of giving effect to the Competition.

10.11 The Promoter will not share any personal information with any third party except where such disclosure is necessary to enable the Promoter to provide, deliver or in any other way give effect to these Competition Rules and/or a Prize, where such disclosure is permitted by law and/or where consent to sharing personal information is obtained from the relevant Participant by the Promoter. The Promoter will comply with the relevant data protection legislation, including POPIA.

10.12 The Promoter may make media announcements containing, or otherwise publish, the names and/or photographs of a winner without remuneration being payable to a winner, provided that the Promoter will not do so if a winner communicates in writing to the Promoter that he/she does not want his or her names or photographs to be contained in media announcements or otherwise published.

10.13 Each Participant indemnifies and holds harmless the Promoter, its associated companies, and the directors, officers, employees and agents of the Promoter and its associated companies, against any and all claims for any loss or damages, whether direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise, arising from any cause whatsoever connected to or arising out of his/her participation in any way in this Competition or his/her receipt, participation, ownership and/or use of a Prize. This indemnity is not intended to exclude any liability for any person which cannot be excluded under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.
